Welcome

Welcome to Calliope's Coffee House the proprietor of this establishment is Jacquie Reaville better known as The Book Imp.

When I started this place it was primarily for book reviews and thoughts on all things literary. Well the book reviews are still here, but somehow it's grown into a place for me and others to practice short fictional writing and of course a place where I can give my thoughts and opinions on virtually any subject that might take my fancy.

Hope you enjoy your visit.

Just to add that I welcome comments, the more the merrier. They don't even have to be related to books or writing just go wild (not too wild though).

Permissions are set so that even anonymous users can answer - but comment moderation is in effect which means I get to say yes or no to letting them appear here.

75 Books Challenge for 2009 on LibraryThing

From Calliope's Coffee House

I intend starting this challenge from January 1st and if I run true to form I hope I'll be reading more than 75 books next year. Anyway, I will endeavour to write reviews of all the books I read be they good or bad (the books that is not my reviews, though... nevermind).

I've been reading what other challengers have been saying, and they seem so organized with lists of what they intend to read and so on... me I'm more of the, pick up a book and read it if I feel like it, persuasion. I do have some rules though, whether I break them or keep them remains to be seen.

  • Read at least 10 non fiction books

  • Read at least 10 classics

  • Read at least 10 biographies/autobiographies

Those are my rules, not too onerous I believe.

I've linked this blog to the LibraryThing group for the challenge so if anyone is interested in seeing what everyone else is doing then just click on the title. (If you're not a member of LT you may have to join to see I'm not sure, it's free though and who knows you might get hooked like thousands of others have).

Right, time to go and make a cup of tea and look at my TBR mountain. Wish I'd asked for crampons for Christmas.

  1. Good luck, 75 books is a tough ask but I like the way you have set goals and rules. I think you will achieve the aim in 2009 and I wish you all the luck in the world. I don't get enough time to read 75 books as I am too busy writing but I will visit your blog regularly to read your reviews and pick the best of your books to read!
